The short answer is yes you should definitely bookmark your articles with whatever appropriate bookmarking sites you use.  Social bookmarking is a way for search engines, especially Bing, to validate your content.  Even if only one person ever bookmarks the article, it tells the search engines that at least one person cares about the content.  And, as long as one person cares about it, then the search engines will care about it too.  That is all that it takes.

When I use the term social bookmarking, I really mean any social media sharing website.  It could be a true bookmarking website or a social networking site like Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon.com or Digg.com.  I think you should use any appropriate site to share your articles on.

Social bookmarks are great for getting your articles indexed in Google and in Bing.  If your articles aren’t added to the search engine indexes, then your links aren’t counting for SEO purposes.

If you can convince other people to bookmark them too then that is all that much better for your material.  Some people have little networks of friends who all share each other’s content through social media and by linking to each other’s material from other places.  Every little bit helps.

There are a couple of different tools that you can use to help speed up the bookmarking process for your content.  Two such services are Onlywire.com and Ping.fm.  Using those services you can create a whole bunch of social media bookmarks and shares all at once.

The four most powerful social media websites are Facebook, Twitter, Digg.com and StumbleUpon.com.  I recommend using all four of them as well as many other ones especially any of the social media sites that still have dofollow links.
